Fall 2021 School Plans

  • The OSD will be offering full in-person instruction, five days per week, at all schools and in all grade levels this fall. There will also be online options this fall; the online option will be different from what students experienced this past school year (see details below). Early Learning / 4K programming information will be sent to families in an email from Principal Mary Hermes.

    All online option requests are due on Friday, July 23We will assume that your student will be attending in-person unless you specifically request an online option (links to request forms included below).  We recommend reading the fall online learning FAQs prior to selecting the online option.

Full In-Person Learning (Kindergarten - Grade 12)

  • OSD will be offering full in-person learning this fall:

    • Five full days per week
    • All schools
    • All grade levels

    We will assume that your student will be attending in-person unless you specifically request an online option.

Full Online Option (Kindergarten - Grade 8)

  • A full online learning option will be available to families with students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. This online learning option will be different from what students experienced this past school year.

    Students will use curriculum from one of OSD’s online learning partners, Edmentum or Stride Learning. Below is a summary of the online experience you can expect by grade level.  We recommend reading the fall online learning FAQs to learn more about the online option. Selection of online option was due Friday, July 23. Please contact your school administrator if you have questions.

    Grades K-2: 

    • Students in grades K-2 will receive live online classes from a Wisconsin licensed teacher in order to provide the support needed for younger students. 
    • K-2 students can expect to spend 4 hours per day in synchronous classes with a teacher Monday-Thursday, with the remaining time and Fridays being asynchronous.
    • An OSD liaison will check in with students once per week (Fridays).
    • Students in grades K-2 will participate in required assessments (e.g., STAR, Literably).
    • Participation requires at least a semester commitment. 

    Grades 3-8

    • Grade 3-8 students will engage in self-paced asynchronous online lessons (there will be no live or recorded lessons).
    • Parents / caregivers will serve as the primary support, and a Wisconsin licensed instructor(s) available as a resource.
    • Students / parents will be responsible for setting their own learning schedules. 
    • The amount of time spent online will vary based on the student and subject.
    • An OSD liaison will check in with students once per week.
    • Students in grades 3-8 will participate in required assessments (e.g., STAR, Literably).
    • Participation requires at least a semester commitment.

OHS Online Options (Grades 9-12)

  • There will be an option for students to select a blended schedule (1-2 online courses) and an option for students to be fully online (the full online option will be very different from what was offered last year). Both options require an application process to ensure that the format is appropriate for your student. All applications are due on Friday, July 23.

    Below is a summary of the online experience you can expect this fall.  We recommend reading the fall online learning FAQs prior to applying for blended or full online learning.

    Blended Learning Schedule (1-2 online classes): English Application / Spanish Application

    • OHS has a rich tradition of blended course schedules (1-2 online courses); pre-pandemic, about 40% of our OHS graduates engaged in at least one online course prior to graduation.
    • Students participate in-person, and have blended learning activities for 1-2 courses in their schedules.
    • Courses are taught by either OSD instructors or by WI licensed instructors if the class is not offered at OHS.

     Full Online LearningEnglish Application / Spanish Application

    • Curriculum and instruction will be provided by WI licensed instructors from one of OSD’s online learning partners, Edmentum or Stride Learning.
    • Learning will be asynchronous (not real time) and requires parental / caregiver support.
    • An OSD liaison will check in with fully online students once per week.
    • Participation requires at least a semester commitment.
